RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

2014-2018  ARC Future Fellow, School of Materials Science and Engineering in University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia). Work involves the study of multiferroics for nanoelectronics and energy harvesting applications using advanced quantum simulation methods. 

2010-2014  JAE-DOC Fellow, Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain) collaborating with Prof. Massimiliano Stengel and the LEEM (Laboratory of Electronic Structure of Materials) group. Work involves the study of ferroelectrics and metal-oxide interfaces using ab initio DFT-based approaches. 

2009-2010  Research Associate, Chemistry department in University College London (London, United Kingdom) collaborating with Prof. Z. X. Guo and his research group. Work involves modelling of solid materials for capture and sequestration of CO2 in  post-combustion energy plants. The computational techniques used in this project are first-principles quantum approaches like density functional theory (DFT) and Moller-Plesset 2nd order perturbation theory (MP2).

2006-2009  Research Associate, Physics and Astronomy department in University College London (London, United Kingdom) collaborating with Prof. M. J. Gillan and Prof. D. Alfe. Work involves the study of transition metals under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature using quantum computational approaches like density functional theory (DFT) and tight-binding techniques (TB). The research is mainly focused on the prediction and understanding of the melting properties of these materials. 

2001-2006  PhD student, Applied Physics and Nuclear Engineering department in the Polytechnical University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) under the supervision of Prof. J. Boronat. Work involves the study of quantum solids and liquids at very low temperatures and pressures using Quantum Monte Carlo methods (variational and diffusion Monte Carlo approaches).
